Lennie James Joins the Blade Runner Cast

Lennie James, best known for his role on AMC’s The Walking Dead, where he plays Morgan Jones. His recent film credits include the James Brown biopic from Universal, Get On Up, which was directed by Tate Taylor and featured Chadwick Boseman. This new addition to the cast was recently announced by Alcon Entertainment, to be joining the Blade Runner sequel. The very talented cast already includes Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Robin Wright.

The sequel, Blade Runner 2049, is being directed by Denis Villeneuve and set to be released on October 6, 2017, by Warner Brothers in North America and Sony Pictures International will distribute media overseas. This long awaited, and highly anticipated sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original, starring Harrison Ford. Ford will be reprising his role as Rick Deckard.

Blade Runner is based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, and the sequel is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green.

In 2011, Alcon Entertainment acquired the film, along with television and franchise rights to BLADE RUNNER from the late producer Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin. Set to produce sequels to the iconic and long awaited science-fiction thriller. Blade Runner 2049 will be produced by Cynthia Sikes Yorkin, Johnson, Kosove, and Bud Yorkin will receive producer credit. They are in good company with Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, of Thunderbird Films, as executive producers. Finally, Bill Carraro is the executive producer along side Ridley Scott.
